Nottingham pub could be converted into aparthotel 

UK: Plans have been submitted to Nottingham City Council to redevelop a vacant pub on Canal Street into a 38-bed aparthotel with a cafe-bar on the ground floor. 

Via Fossa most recently operated as a Greene King pub, and was originally a wicker pram and furniture factory built in 1897.

The proposal would see the former pub converted into a ground-floor hospitality venue with a 38-unit aparthotel above. An operator for the ground-floor is reportedly confirmed, with planning documents suggesting that Loungers will occupy the space.

Restaurateur Dan Lindsay, who co-owns the tapas restaurants Iberico and Mexican restaurant Taquero in the city, is collaborating with developer Ken Burt on the project. It would be designed by ARC Design Studio.

Work has already begun on the site. It is expected to take around 18 months to complete. 

Lindsay said: “I think there’s a lack of decent, design-focused places to stay in the city centre. We’re creating something with a really strong design identity. At its heart, this is about bringing back some love to a building people already care about. We’re taking somewhere that’s been empty upstairs for decades and giving it a new role.”

Nottingham City Council are due to make a decision on the application by 19 October 2026.
