WORLDWIDE: Situ has been awarded a silver rating from sustainability rating provider EcoVadis.

Companies using EcoVadis are rated on how they meet key sustainability targets including the environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement impacts.

EcoVadis offers companies a common platform, universal scorecard, benchmarks, and performance improvement tools to achieve the rating.

Situ’s report from EcoVadis says that the company performed well across all areas, but in particular, regarding its environmental practices – highlighting its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and the way that Situ educates and trains all its staff on environmental best practices.

Situ’s managing director, Phil Stapleton, said: “We have been working hard for several years to put in place changes across our business that are right for the environment, our people, suppliers, clients, and partners. We want to be a genuinely good business and one that is good to do business with. Achieving silver status from such a trusted global assessor as EcoVadis shows that we are moving in the right direction. Of course, there is always more to be done – and that’s why we have launched our ‘Be More Starfish’  programme, which has at its heart the premise that everyone needs to do their bit, and small changes can add up to bigger changes.”

The ‘Be More Starfish’ ESG programme is based on the ‘everyone can make a difference’ starfish parable, where a young man tries to save starfish from being beached by throwing them back into the ocean. Despite his impossible task to save all starfish, he knows he makes a difference to each starfish he saves.

To that end on July 23,  the Situ team will carry out a beach clean in Teignmouth, South Devon, giving everyone the chance to ‘Be More Starfish’ together.

Situ recently appointed a supply manager for its expansion in the APAC region.
