Netherlands: SACO has started sales at its first development outside the UK, the Wittenberg in Amsterdam.
The aparthotel, which opens in November, is located on the eastern side of Amsterdam in the Plantage district, close to the city centre. Zuidas, Amsterdam’s business district, is a short commute away.
The property, which overlooks the Nieuwe Keizersgracht Canal, is eighteenth century in origin, but has a contemporary interior. SACO says each of its 115 apartments has been “restored and enhanced to reflect the convenience of contemporary Dutch design, whilst preserving the Wittenberg’s authentic and original ethos, charm and character”.
Amenities at Wittenberg, which caters for guests staying for a week or more, include:
• A mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments
• A choice of apartment views over the canal, courtyards or garden
• 24/7 reception and onsite team
• On-site parking
• Bikes available for guests’ use
• Free high speed WIFI
• SMART TV with up to 72 channels
• Weekly cleaning
Stephen Hanton, CEO of SACO, said: “The launch of the Wittenberg marks a new chapter for SACO as we continue our impressive pace of growth in recent years, but now do so in new markets. Amsterdam is a strategically important location, and that is why we chose it as our first location in mainland Europe. We wanted to set the bar high with our first property outside the UK. By combining our 20 years of expertise and with an incredible location and property, we believe the Wittenberg will be a true home for many business and leisure travellers in the years ahead.”
Leading the Wittenberg’s team of 10 staff is general manager Milo Smits, who joined SACO in July after over three years at Corendon Hotels & Resorts in Amsterdam.
The launch of the Wittenberg represents the latest phase of growth for SACO, which is doubling in size with openings in Manchester, Dublin and Cambridge confirmed, and others to be announced soon.
Ben Harper, SACO’s commercial director, said: “Wittenberg will have the same high levels of quality and service that our clients and guests expect and receive at every SACO property. The news of this opening has been well received with clients from established corporate verticals such as banking and professional services as well as growing sectors such as technology and creative. There is also a huge opportunity within the leisure space for guests looking for an alternative to traditional hotels when visiting Amsterdam.”
