Wyndham Hotels & Resorts launches native ChatGPT app
Reading Time: 2 minutes

US: Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is implementing a native ChatGPT app intended to improve the hotel discovery and booking experience for customers.

The app is available in the US within Open AI’s ChatGPT.

Built for conversational search, the app provides users with information on approximately 8,400 hotels across Wyndham’s global portfolio through map-based navigation, amenity filters, and interactive hotel cards – all accessed within ChatGPT’s interface. Travellers can refine results with natural language prompts and transition to Wyndham’s website to complete bookings.

“Conversational AI is reshaping how travellers discover and book,” said Scott Strickland, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts chief commercial officer. “With our native ChatGPT app launch, Wyndham is helping our hotels stay at the forefront – building on years of AI investment to directly connect with guests in new ways while ensuring the experience is both intuitive and highly visual.”

Michael Mahar, SVP and head of commercial technology for Wyndham, added: “As AI becomes central to how travel is planned and purchased, our focus is on translating innovation into real results for owners. Whether it’s helping reduce operating costs, drive incremental revenue, or expand distribution through new platforms like ChatGPT, our goal is to enable franchisees to compete more effectively while delivering a better experience for guests.”

This is Wyndham’s second large language model (LLM) integration, following its integration with Anthropic’s Claude in 2025.

It forms part of a broader USD$450 million technology investment strategy. In its call centres, Wyndham has leveraged AI to reduce the average handle times by seven per cent. In its hotels, guest engagement is powered by Canary Technologies to automate routine operations and unlock revenue opportunities.

Wyndham plans to continue expanding into AI technology including an upcoming integration with Google’s AI mode.

Highlights:
