EMEA: Accor’s urban aparthotel brand Adagio will open 11 hotels across five countries this year, including the brand’s sub-Saharan African debut in the Ivory Coast.
The aparthotels will be located across Belgium, France, the Ivory Coast, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany.
In the first quarter of the year, four openings will take place across Belgium and France:
• Adagio Original Antwerp City Centre, Belgium – The aparthotel will be located in the central Ghent with 100 studios and offices, stores, and apartments as part of the Urban Nest concept.
• Adagio Original Gent – Centrum Dampoort, Belgium – Located in the neighbourhood of the former docks, the property will offer 98 apartments and studios for two to four people.
• Adagio Access Montpellier Centre Comédie, France – The aparthotel is run in collaboration with a three-star hotel and offers 39 apartments.
• Adagio Access Lyon, Comfort Suites Rive Gauche Lyon Centre, France – The second branded property in Lyon will have 78 studios and apartments in the university district.
In the second quarter, Adagio Original Toulouse – La Grave, France will open in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse. The property is integrated into a mixed complex of flats, shops and offices. 114 two-bedroom flats and studios will be available.
In quarter three, two hotels are set to open in France and the Ivory Coast:
• Adagio Original Boulogne-Billiancourt, France – The 101-unit aparthotel will be located in the Trapèze district, near Le Seine Musicale, the Parc des Princes football and rugby stadium.
• Adagio Original Abidjan Marcory, Ivory Coast – A brand debut, the Ivory Coast property will have 100 studios and flats with shared pools and outdoor facilities.
Towards the end of the year, four more hotels in France, Italy, the UK and Germany are set to open. These include:
• Adagio Access Rome Colombo, Italy – This hotel will be located in a business district near the Baths of Caracalla, in the European Quarter. There will be 106 studios and flats.
• Adagio Access Rouen – Centre, France – A combined project with Novotel, the property is located near the cathedral with 75 studios and flats.
• Adagio Original London Whitechapel, United Kingdom – Based in east London, the aparthotel will offer a total of 147 studios and flats including co-living flats. The co-living apartment will be fully equipped.
• Adagio Original Heidelberg, Germany – Located next to the main railway station, the site will offer 162 studios and flats.

“The year 2022 was a sign of the resilience of the business model of the aparthotel sector, with numerous new deals and openings as well as an enormous overall performance, which was well above that of 2019 and that of the traditional hotel market. 2022 marked another turning point with the creation of a new brand identity, designed by internationally renowned agency Saguez & Partners, which encapsulates three key brand values: courage, sharing and taking responsibility.”
Lamson added: “In addition to the eleven planned openings, [we] will introduce two new concepts: a new and totally innovative Adagio Access three-star apartment and the new Coliving Access Apartment.”
