Germany: IHG Hotels & Resorts has debuted its midscale extended stay brand Candlewood Suites in Europe, opening a property in Berlin.

Launched in partnership with operator NOVUM Hospitality, Candlewood Suites Berlin Charlottenburg is part of a dual-brand project which also features the Holiday Inn – the niu Flash.

The Candlewood Suites property features 139 rooms with kitchenettes, a self-service laundry room, and an honesty market.

A further five properties are due to open in Germany this year, located in Fürth, Heidelberg, Düsseldorf, Augsburg and Berlin. The properties have been converted from NOVUM Hospitality’s acora Living the City and Novum hotel brands, and follow the announcement of the long-term agreement to bring 13 Candlewood Suites hotels to the country.

Mario Maxeiner, managing director – northern Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “With 13 additional Candlewood Suites set to open across Germany in the coming months, we are delighted to offer guests a new midscale aparthotel experience, underpinned by a reliable service and apartment-style amenities to maintain their independence and daily routines with confidence.”

David Etmenan, owner of NOVUM Hospitality, said: “As one of IHG’s largest global franchise partners, we are proud to bring Candlewood Suites to Germany, a brand that embodies comfort, convenience, and a home-like experience for our guests.

“This launch marks a significant step in our commitment to providing exceptional hospitality and tailored services that meet the evolving needs of travellers. We look forward to welcoming guests to our Candlewood Suites properties, where every stay feels like a home away from home.”

Samira Said, CEO of NOVUM Hospitality, added: “The collaborative effort of both our teams in bringing this brand to life in Germany has been truly exceptional. This launch represents our dedication to providing travellers with the comfort and flexibility they seek, whether for business or leisure.”
