Denmark: Tech-powered aparthotel operator Bob W has signed a long-term lease for a 7,500 square metre property in Copenhagen Meatpacking District, one of the company’s largest deals to date.

The former police station in Kødbyen will be transformed into a 169-unit flagship Bob W property in partnership with Nordic real estate investor Slättö. The site is due to open in October 2027.

Bob W Copenhagen Vesterbro is set to become a cornerstone of the company’s northern Europe growth strategy, bringing its European portfolio to over 5,000 units.

Bob W already operates 165 units in Copenhagen. Once open, the Vesterbro property will offer short and extended stays, with a mix of serviced studios and one-bedroom apartments, coworking and social spaces, and a restaurant.

All apartments will include fully equipped kitchens and smart room controls.

The historic building’s original façade will be preserved, while interiors will feature local art, furnishings, and collaborations with Copenhagen-based artisans.

Niko Karstikko, co-founder and chief executive of Bob W, said: “Copenhagen has been an important city for us; not only as the largest Nordic travel destination, but for its global leadership in sustainability, design, and culture. With a successful property already operating here, we’re proud to deepen our roots in the capital. The Meatpacking District reflects the kind of energy and creativity we look for in our locations, and this project marks a true flagship moment for Bob W.”

The deal follows a series of previous collaborations between Slättö and Bob W, including the brand’s Helsinki Kaarti property.

Erik Moller, head of hotels at Slättö, said: “This project aligns closely with our focus on revitalising central, underutilised assets in collaboration with best-in-class operators. The transformation of this historic building will contribute lasting value to the district and the city as a whole.”
