Netherlands: Alexander Goad, chief executive and co-founder of lifestyle serviced apartment operator The July, has announced he will step down from his role on 1 April 2026.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Goad said the decision followed “careful consideration” and comes as the company enters its next phase of growth. He added that while leaving would not be easy, “the time feels right for new steps and new adventures”.
Goad co-founded The July around a decade ago with the aim of developing a new extended-stay hospitality model across Europe. Since then, the company has grown into a fully integrated owner-operator with seven locations across Europe, spanning acquisition, development and operations.
The July now employs more than 200 people and operates a portfolio focused on design-led accommodation catering to both short- and long-stay guests. The company has also positioned itself as a frontrunner in ESG across both operations and development, according to Goad.
Goad thanked The July’s investment partners, including Dutch pension investor APG and Australian superannuation fund Aware Super, which recently became the company’s majority shareholder. He said the business is “very well positioned for its next phase of growth”.
