St David Aparthotels acquires Ascot House Hotel in Harrogate

UK: Chester-based developer and operator St David Aparthotels has acquired the Ascot House Hotel in Harrogate with plans to transform the property into an aparthotel.

The Ascot Hotel was formerly a family run business, and following the owner’s retirement, St David stepped in to purchase the site. 

The hotel’s former manager is joining St David and will oversee the property’s operation as well assisting with the company’s expansion.  

On completion of the work, the aparthotel will comprise 19 studio apartments with kitchenettes, SKY TV, Nespresso machines, and mini-bars.

Tony Davies, managing director of St David Aparthotels, said: “We take character buildings and totally redevelop them with the aim of breathing new life into them as aparthotels. Everyone benefits, from our guests and the town’s residents through to our investors. We are extremely pleased with the results to date for our aparthotels in the town and the reaction of people there. 

“We have been developers/operators for many years and in more recent times have focused exclusively on the aparthotel sector. We are now entering an expansion phase and we are looking at other locations. We believe our model, with the quality of our completed aparthotels, is for the Harrogate and York markets.”

The acquisition of the Ascot Hotel follows the company’s recent launch of The Terrace, a 14 one-bedroom aparthotel in Barrow-in-Furness. The wider portfolio includes the Old Lyric Hall and the Old Brewery Inn.

An additional property has also been acquired in York with St David actively seeking more sites in the region.
