Sweden: Tech-powered hospitality operator Bob W has opened its first property in Sweden, locked in the Norrmalm commercial district of Stockholm.
The 54-unit aparthotel has opened in a former hotel building. Bob W signed the lease last year with landlord Altira. Stockholm-based Note Design Studio oversaw the site’s renovation.
Rooms include studios and one-bedroom apartments designed for both short and long term stays. A digital front desk provides options for early check-ins and late check-outs based on real time availability, and a virtual host can recommend local dining spots and experiences.
“We’re beyond excited to land in Sweden and bring Bob W to one of Europe’s most vibrant cities,” said Niko Karstikko, co-founder and CEO of Bob W. “Generic hotels and hit-or-miss short-term rentals don’t keep up with how modern travellers live, work and explore. Today’s guests want authentic local experiences without compromising on comfort, consistency, or quality. That’s exactly what we deliver: top-tier local design, high-end amenities, and a fully digital, hassle-free experience.”
Johannes Karlström, architect and co-founder of Note, added: “This project is about using as much of the existing building components as possible, upgrading it while using minimal interventions, keeping the refurbishment efficient both in terms of cost and sustainability. We set out to merge the design sensibilities of the 1960s with the spirit of contemporary Stockholm, telling the story of a city in transformation, becoming increasingly inclusive and optimistic. In this narrative, the brutalist exterior represents a restrictive and modest past, while the interior reflects the playful and vibrant ideas of a bright future.”
Bob W operates more than 49 properties across 19 European cities. The company has secured over €70 million in funding to date.
