Germany: Serviced apartment operator smartments has reopened its Berlin Prenzlauer Berg property with two new room concepts following a renovation.

The 183-unit building remained opened for business during the renovation before closing for two weeks in March for final work.

Among the new features include the introduction of family rooms with connecting doors, alongside a new room concept for studios which includes floating beds to create more usable space.

The lobby area has also been redesigned as a multifunctional lounge, with various seating and work areas allowing for both dining and coworking. Instead of a traditional reception desk, smartments is increasingly relying on mobile hosts.

“We are consistently developing our product to meet the diverse needs of different types of stays, from short breaks to extended stays,” said Martin Troppa, director of commercial at smartments. “With the new room concept and additional categories, we are creating greater flexibility while simultaneously tapping into new demand potential.”
