UK: Drysdale and Company, the specialist hospitality agents, has a new development opportunity for Fort William, which could include serviced apartments.
Planning permission was approved late last year for the demolition of the 23 bedroom Loch Linnhe Hotel and will remain in place for three years.
The current plans include the construction of two detached blocks, part two and part three storey and feature seven two bed apartments with kitchens.
Director, Stuart Drysdale said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to develop what is an extremely well located site, situated in a prime part of the Highlands.”
Fort William is the gateway to Ben Nevis and a popular tourist destination. More than 150,000 people attempt to climb the UK’s tallest mountain each year. The town is also home part of the Mountain Bike World Cup series, and a good base for hikers exploring the surrounding mountains and lochs.
Drysdale added: “We expect to see strong interest in this site, as self catering or serviced apartment accommodation has grown ever more popular. Groups and families are looking for relaxed, quality accommodation to base themselves for a break away to explore the countryside and the many activities available in and around the surrounding area.”
The site overlooks Loch Linnhe on the A82, the road into Fort William. Inverness is just under two hours’ drive away, while Glasgow is 2 and a half hours and Edinburgh just over three hours from the town.
Scotland has seen a lot of interest from the serviced apartment sector recently, with the Cheval Group expanding in the country and recently opening its fifth property in Scotland, in Glasgow. San Francisco-based hospitality company, Sonder, also has Scotland expansion plans underway.
