UK: Aparthotel to be created in Poole hotel redevelopment
FJB Hotel Group and Fortitudo Property Ltd plans to redevelop three well-known Poole hotels.
If plans are approved in the next couple of months, The Haven, Sandbanks and Harbour Heights Hotels will be redeveloped and refurbished to create an all suite hotel, a new beach hotel and residential apartments.
The designs by ARC Architecture for the Harbour Heights Hotel includes 38 hotel suites, two restaurants, a bar and a roof terrace with views across Poole Harbour.
The two-bed suites (which will have the option to convert to one-bed depending on requirements) will offer more than 55 square metres in space and will include ensuite bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and spacious lounge.
Richard Carr CEO of Fortitudo Property said: “Sandbanks has become very well known over the years and I think people want more space than just a bedroom when they are on holiday. They want a lounge where they can socialise and relax.”
The other plans include creating a new Sandbanks Hotel on the Blue Flag beach and redeveloping the Haven, which will offer 119 apartments to rent.
Carr said he thought aparthotels were a growing trend as an extension to the hotel scene. “It’s worked here successfully at the Captain’s Club in Christchurch, [Bournemouth] for years.”
Extended stay options have done well in the UK since the pandemic after a boom in staycations in 2020.
