Northern Ireland: Lamington Group has achieved WELL Platinum for its room2 Belfast – the highest certification level within the WELL Building Standard.
Developed by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the WELL Building Standard is a global framework for designing and operating buildings that support human health and wellbeing.
It assesses performance across 10 areas: air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community. All criteria are backed by scientific and medical research that demonstrates how buildings directly influence physical and mental health.
Certification requires independent, third-party testing and verification to ensure that these standards are met and maintained.
room2 Belfast has become the first hotel in the UK and Europe – and the fourth in the world – to receive WELL Platinum.
Lamington Group, operator of room2 Belfast, said: “This achievement reinforces our belief that sustainability must always extend to people. It’s about creating spaces that actively support human health, happiness and resilience.
“As we continue to expand the room2 portfolio, we remain committed to designing hotels that nurture physical, mental and social well-being — for our guests, our teams and the communities we serve.”
