South Africa: Aparthotel network BlackBrick has expanded its portfolio with the opening of a 93-unit aparthotel in Cape Town, its second in the city.
BlackBrick Gardens is housed in a former 1960’s industrial building, previously occupied by jewellery and hat makers. It is located on Roodehek Street.
The six-storey aparthotel features a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments with custom furniture, alongside amenities including a rooftop piazza, indoor pool, coworking space, a Pilates studio, and six food and beverage venues.
It also offers the BB+ Membership platform – an experiences program that gives members access to events, walks and talks, wellness, art, design, and architecture.
Jonathan Liebmann, co-founder of BlackBrick, said: “While there has been an increase in apartment hotels entering the market, BlackBrick Gardens stands out for two key reasons. Firstly, there hasn’t been another apartment hotel launched in the Gardens area specifically. Secondly, most new developments have been concentrated in the CBD or along the Atlantic Seaboard. This makes our location unique.”
Logan Naidoo, general manager of BlackBrick Gardens, added: “We’ve created a space that feels human in every sense – where design, service and technology work quietly in the background so people can truly connect. Our model is about designing spaces that people can stay, work and create in – hotels that feel like homes, but also unlock the possibility of chance encounters and collaboration.”
BlackBrick currently operates in Johannesburg and Cape Town, with planned openings in Durban and Pretoria. International expansion into the United States will target cities such as Miami, Austin and Atlanta.
