UK: Plans have been submitted to Renfrewshire Council to convert a former music venue known as The Cave into seven serviced apartments.
The applicant intends to link the site, located at 38 New Street, with an adjoining building at 40-42 New Street which has approval for an 11-unit aparthotel, and combine the business use.
A statement from CGA Design said: “The application site is a two-storey unit and fronts New Street to the north and an open grass and tree area of land to the west. To the east it adjoins 40-42 New Street, which is subject to a current approval 23/0357/PP for change of use to 11 serviced apartments. The applicant owns both these properties, and the proposal is to link through internally to combine the business use.
“The apartments would each be self-contained with their own internal entrances, with external access taken from the existing double door entrance to the former public house. Access is also being created through the party wall joining No. 38 to 40-42. Each unit would feature a kitchen and en-suite facilities. The apartments will be advertised on booking websites, with bookings only open to those over 21 years of age. Maintenance and cleaning will be organised from an office and staff located just round the corner at 42 Causeyside Street.”
The application is currently open for consultation until 12 January 2026.
The Cave closed in September 2025 after it was put up for auction in by Auction House Scotland at a guide price of £80,000.
