Germany: Operator smartments has opened the largest property in its portfolio, a 221-unit site located at Bielefeld main station.
smartments Bielefeld Hauptbahnhof, located at Bahnhofstraße 55, is designed to target business travellers, project staff, families and guests with medium and longer stays.
Seven room categories range from 19 to 43 square metres. Most of the rooms are equipped with a kitchenette, while some individual categories have been designed without a kitchenette to cater to shorter stays. Select rooms are also barrier-free with wheelchair accessibility, and family rooms offer connecting doors and twin rooms. Depending on the category, occupancy of up to four people is possible.
Check-in takes place via digital terminals on the ground floor, while the fifth floor of the building functions as an open lobby concept combining working areas with a community kitchen.
Jens Kindschuh, CEO smartments, said: “With our smartments Bielefeld main station, we are opening our largest location to date and at the same time the largest in the region. This underlines the importance of Bielefeld and Ostwestfalen-Lippe as an economically relevant market for flexible, temporary forms of residence.”
The smartments portfolio currently comprises 2,389 units across Germany and Austria. With the launch of the smartments home product line, the company will expand its range of long-stay housing by a total of 372 units by 2027.
